Studies

Innovative Research Projects

The Świętokrzyskie Oncology Center drives innovation in both the local and national sectors. Its Biobank collects biological samples for cutting-edge research aimed at advancing modern diagnostics and pharmacotherapy. The center engages in intensive scientific and research activities with high potential, implementing projects in areas such as:

  • Radiobiology: Investigating the effects of ionizing radiation on the structure and function of cancer cells and their resistance to radiotherapy (in collaboration with Stockholm University).
  • Vaccination and Cancer: Studying the role of vaccinations against bacterial infections in patients treated for hematological cancers, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer (in partnership with the Medical University of Lublin).
  • Liquid Biopsy: Examining extracellular nucleic acids and circulating tumor cells (CTC) as a modern tool for personalizing oncology treatments.
  • Molecular Sieves: Developing tools for detecting circulating tumor cells (CTC) (in collaboration with the Military University of Technology).
  • Nanoparticles in Oncology: Researching the use of nanoparticles in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer (in partnership with the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences).
  • New Cancer Markers: Searching for new markers for cancer diagnostics and treatment through clinical-laboratory research in cooperation with domestic institutions and the National Cancer Institute in Washington.
  • Imaging Fusion Platform: Creating an innovative IT platform for fusing cardiac imaging studies, a unique solution in Poland that ensures maximum diagnostic accuracy (developed in collaboration with the John Paul II Specialist Hospital in Kraków).

International Collaborations

ŚCO collaborates with renowned institutions, including the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the European Network of Cancer Registries, the European Organisation of Cancer Institutes, the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, and the National Cancer Institute in Washington.

Contributions to Epidemiology

Data collected in the Świętokrzyskie Cancer Registry significantly contributes to global and national analyses on the burden of malignant cancers.

Commitment to Quality

The center's continuous improvement in service quality is affirmed by its maintained certifications in quality management (ISO 9001:2008) and food safety (ISO 22000:2005).
